Unable to dispute the claim due to the sheer amount of information the DHS needs, Rory is left stranded, trying to survive off very little income as he is harassed by a collections agency over his debt. Meanwhile, David accepts a commission-based job at a private debt collection agency out of financial necessity and is eventually assigned Rory’s account. The narrative tracks the escalating pressure as David’s persistent collection attempts converge with Rory’s mounting distress, resulting in a tragic breaking point that reflects the real-world impact of the Robodebt scheme.
